Video projections have become a popular feature in modern theater productions, and Ion Concert Media hopes to capitalize on this growing trend by offering a new line of pre-produced video set packages for schools, community theaters and professional troupes.

This has been a busy year for the production team at Ion with two projected set commissions. The second is a video-based set design for the musical "Joseph and the Amazing technicolor Dreamcoat", which will be premiered by Farmington High School (Farmington, MN) beginning April 19. These two commissions come on the heels of a successful commission project with North Dakota State University to create a projected set for the musical “Children of Eden” in 2017.

The video set for Augusta's "SpongeBob" production brings Bikini Bottom to life as Ion’s Muséik software guides the sync of each performance. Designed to both frame the action on stage and interact with it, the video combines static images, ambient motion, and highly synchronized sections. Muséik's advanced synchronizing functions will heighten the drama and enhance the audience experience.

“Projected sets are becoming quite popular,” says company CEO Scott Winters.  “We look forward to working with other drama productions in the months ahead to produce more products that offer video-based set elements for both drama and musical theater shows.”

The projected sets for SpongeBob, Joseph, and The Children of Eden are available for rent on the Ion Concert Media website.
