A Series Of Mood Pictures...
ON STEROIDS

By now we have all seen Holst's masterpiece accompanied by images of the planets in our solar system. But Holst's original intent was to create "a series of mood pictures" based on astrology rather than astronomy.

Film maker James Templeton delivers a synchronized visual that is both dramatic and profound. It explores the characters and symbols associated with each of the Roman gods while expressing the astrological temperaments of each.

The film is at every turn true to the music. It is saturated with symbolism and meaning that rewards multiple viewings, but is immediately approachable as an artistic and theatrical masterwork that dances exquisitely with the ensemble.

Available in multiple formats from a single screen video to a fully immersive multi-sensory experience, this video will both captivate and enlighten your audience.

What's better than combining the musical and visual arts? How about adding a literature and projected program notes component!

In the 3-Panel Package the main film is presented on a main center screen exactly as it appears in the Single Screen Package. But we have added two additional display surfaces to enhance the audience experience. This supplemental material can be projected onto screens or thrown onto walls, the proscenium, the sound shell, or other architectual surfaces.

Visual material for the supplemental projects is taken from the main film, but also includes insightful real-time program notes and quotes from Homer, Hesiod, Virgil and others. Care has been taken to not distract from the music or main visual; the supplememtal material is subdued, slow-moving, and visually complementary.

 The package includes:

  • Print program notes
  • Basic marketing package
  • Personalized training on the Muséik platform
  • Technical support, including 24 hour support the week of your show

About Muséik

Best In Class Digital Sync

The film sync for this show is driven by Muséik. Muséik is different. Instead of bending the music to match the film, the film bends to follow the real-time tempo of the ensemble. This allows for flexibilty and artistic inspiration not usually found in productions with digital elements.

FAQs

Do you offer discounts?

Ion Concert Media is proud to offer an Education and Community Ensemble Discount. Visit the main product page for details. For all other presenters we are happy to work with you to develop a project to fit your budget.

We would like to book the single panel or 3-panel version but do not have a Muséik operator.

No problem. We keep in contact with experienced Muséik operators all over the world and will be happy to recommend someone for your project. You can also hire a member of our team to run your production.

Tell me more about the 3-panel, 3-projector format

This format is intended for situations where three separate video panels are projected in three different locations (as opposed to all three projected in a line on your back wall cyc). Done well this installation provides your audience with an immersive video experience that packs a whole lot of "WOW". We especially like installations where the center panel is projected on a screen and the side panels are projection mapped onto your architecture.

Although you are projecting three separate video images, they are delivered as a single file. This means you need a device that can split the signal into three parts.

Ion Concert Media owns a Matrox QuadHead2Go video splitter and we make it available as part of a 3-Panel contract. We like the Matrox unit because it is largely a plug-and-play device that is easy to set up.

Muséik is Syphon enabled and can send video to mapping platforms like Mad Mapper or QLab.

Do you offer support for DIY productions?

Yes! Once the contract is signed we begin acting as a sort of off-site technical producer, providing whatever technical assistance is required. Most productions utilize three components of our support package: 1) A pre-planning tech meeting, 2) personalized training on the Muséik platform for the operator, and 3) 24-hour phone and text support the week of the event.

We prefer to be invoiced. Is this possible?

Yes. We make the Single Panel Package available as an e-commerce purchase to make life simple. But we are happy to contract and invoice offline for any transaction. We also accept school PO's.

Do we need to use Muséik?

The film is available exclusively through Ion Concert Media and the sync is driven exclusively with our Muséik technology. We are here to help make sure you have an easy onboarding experience and we are very confident you will appreciate the tempo flexibility, precision and artistry Muséik provides.

What about lights?

In October 2024 we quietly launched new functionality in Muséik that allows the user to fire cues in QLab using our tempo flexible sync. This means that Muséik is now capable of firing a synchronized lighting program (or any other QLab cues) without the need of timecode or the "GO" button. There is still work to be done to refine the functionality, but the capability exists in Muséik 3.2.0.5.
